The possibility of obtaining parallaxes of rare and luminous objects: old stars like RR Lyrae or Mira variables, or young stars as blue or red supergiants, will allow to determine distances to old galactic objects like globular clusters or irregular and spiral galaxies, and to im- prove, ultimately, our knowledge on the extragalactic distance.
